ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ ചാന്നാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ വിദ്യാർഥി മന്ദിരവും തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ മഠവും സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനം എടുത്ത കാലം. മഠത്തിന്‍റെ സ്ഥാപനത്തിനും മറ്റും ഗുരുദേവൻ ചില നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ നല്കിയിരുന്നു. മഠത്തിൽ യോഗ്യനായ ഒരു സന്ന്യാസിയെ നിയമിക്കണം. അന്തേവാസികൾക്ക് 55 വയസ്സു വരെ കുടുംബഭരണം ആവാം. 55 വയസ്സിനു ശേഷം ഗീത പാരായണവും ഭജനവും ഒക്കെ കൂടി മഠത്തിൽ സ്ഥിരം താമസം ആക്കണം. ശേഷകാലം മഠത്തിന്‍റെ അഭിവൃദ്ധിക്കായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കണം. ഗുരുദേവന്‍റെ നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങളെ ചാന്നാർ വളരെയധികം ബഹുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നു.
Alumoottil Channar decided to establish a student hostel and a mutt (spiritual monastery) in Tamil Nadu. For the establishment of the mutt, Guru Devan (Sree Narayana Guru) provided some specific guidelines. He advised that a qualified monk should be appointed to lead the mutt. Residents could continue to support their families until the age of 55. After reaching 55, they were encouraged to reside permanently in the mutt, engaging in activities such as reciting the Bhagavad Gita and singing bhajans. They were also expected to dedicate their later years to the growth and service of the mutt. Channar deeply respected and adhered to the instructions given by Guru Devan.
