പണ്ടു കാലത്തു പുലപ്പേടി ,പറപ്പേടി ,മണ്ണാപ്പേടി എന്നീ അനാചാരങ്ങളാൽ ഭ്രഷ്ട് കല്പിക്കുക എന്നൊരു ചടങ്ങുണ്ടായിരുന്നു . സന്ധ്യകഴിഞ്ഞ് മനകളുടെ സമീപം ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുലയർ ,പറയർ ,മണ്ണാന്മാർ എന്നീ പിന്നോക്ക വിഭാഗത്തിലെ പുരുഷന്മാർ വീടിനുപുറത്ത് ഇറങ്ങുന്ന ബ്രാഹ്‌മണ കന്യകമാരെ സ്പർശിക്കുകയോ, എന്തെങ്കിലും വസ്തു കൊണ്ട് എറിഞ്ഞു കൊള്ളിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ ‘ഭ്രഷ്ട്’ ആയിരുന്നു തീരുമാനം. ഭ്രഷ്ട് എന്നാൽ ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ അന്തസ്സിന് വേണ്ടി ഒരു വ്യക്തിയെ ഒഴിവാക്കുക എന്നതാണ് . പിന്നീട് ആ സ്ത്രീ പിന്നോക്ക വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഒരു പുരുഷനെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു ആജീവനാന്തം താമസിക്കണം. അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം ആ കുടുംബത്തിലെ എല്ലാ അംഗങ്ങളെയും തെറ്റുകാരായി മുദ്ര കുത്തി ശിക്ഷ വിധിച്ചിരുന്നു .അത്തരത്തിൽ വന്നേരി നാട്ടിലെ ആഴ്വാഞ്ചേരി മനയിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്താക്കപ്പെട്ട സഹോദരിമാരായ രണ്ടു ബ്രാഹ്‌മണ കന്യകമാർ കാൽനടയായി അലഞ്ഞു തിരിഞ്ഞു മുട്ടം പ്രദേശത്തു എത്തിച്ചേർന്നു. മൂത്ത കന്യക പള്ളിപ്പാട്ട് കോയിക്കലേത്തു തറവാടിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന ചിറയ്ക്കൽ ആറ്റുപുറം എന്ന നായർ കുടുംബത്തിൽ സഹായം അഭ്യർഥിച്ചു ചെല്ലുകയും അവർ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ശേഷം അന്നത്തെ കാരണവർ ആ സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു .ഇളയ കന്യകയെ ആലുമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാട്ടുകാർ സ്വീകരിയ്ക്കുകയും കുടുംബത്തിലെ അന്നത്തെ കാരണവരുമായി വിവാഹം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. അത്തരത്തിൽ ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ കുടുംബവും ചിറയ്ക്കൽ ആറ്റുപുറം കുടുംബവും തമ്മിൽ ബന്ധത്തിലാവുകയും മരണാന്തര ചടങ്ങുകളിൽ പരസ്പരം കോടി സമർപ്പിക്കുകയും പുലവാലായ്മകൾ പിന്തുടർന്ന് വരികയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു .
In ancient times, there existed certain practices known as Pulappedi, Parappedi, and Mannappedi, which were forms of ritualized ostracism. During these events, men from marginalized communities such as Pulayars, Parayars, and Mannans would hide near Brahmin households in the evenings. If a Brahmin maiden ventured outside and was either touched or had an object thrown at her by one of these men, she would be considered “ostracized.” This meant that for the honor of her family, she was banished. The ostracized woman would then be required to marry a man from a marginalized community and live with him for the rest of her life. If not, her entire family would be branded as guilty and punished accordingly. In one such instance, two Brahmin sisters were banished from the Azhvanchery Mana (family) in Vanneri, after which they wandered until they reached the Muttam region. The elder sister sought help from the Chirakkal Attupuram Nair family, which was part of the Pallippattu Koikalathu lineage, and was welcomed by them. Eventually, the head of that family married her. The younger sister was accepted by the Aalumoottil family, where she was married to the then-head of that family. This incident established a kinship between the Aalumoottil and Chirakkal Attupuram families, leading them to honor each other in funeral ceremonies, exchange customary tributes, and continue traditional observances together.
