ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാട്ടിലെ പതിനൊന്നാമത്തെ കാരണവരായിരുന്നു കൊച്ചുകുഞ്ഞു ചാന്നാർ. ഇന്നത്തെ മേട പണിതത് കൊച്ചുകുഞ്ഞു ചാന്നാറിന്റെ കാലത്താണ്. ഉഗ്രപ്രതാപിയായി കാരണവർ വാഴുന്ന കാലം. മേടയിൽ മരുമക്കത്തായം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു മക്കത്തായം തുടങ്ങാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നൊരു ശ്രുതി പരന്നു. ഇരുട്ടിന്‍റെ മറവിൽ ചതിയിലൂടെ കൊച്ചുകുഞ്ഞു ചാന്നാർ എന്ന പ്രതാപശാലിയെ മരുമക്കൾ വെട്ടിനുറുക്കി. തന്റെ സുഹൃത്തിനെ വകവരുത്തിയ മൂത്തമരുമകനു രാജാവ് വധശിക്ഷ വിധിച്ചു. മുട്ടം എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തെ നടുക്കിയ കൊലപാതകം പിന്നീട് മുത്തശ്ശിക്കഥയായി. 1921-ൽ ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാട്ടിൽ നടന്ന ഒരു ക്രൂര കൊലപാതകമാണ് ഈ തിരക്കഥയെഴുതാൻ മധുമുട്ടത്തിന് പ്രചോദനമായത്.
“Kochukunj Channar was the eleventh head of the Aalummoottil family. It was during his time that the grand mansion known as ‘Meda’ was built. He ruled as a powerful and influential head of the family. A rumor began to spread that the traditional matrilineal system (Marumakkathayam) would soon be replaced by a patrilineal system (Makkathayam). Under the cover of darkness, his nephews, driven by treachery, brutally murdered the formidable Kochukunj Channar. The eldest nephew, who orchestrated the murder of his own uncle, was sentenced to death by the king. This heinous crime shook the village of Muttam and eventually became a folktale passed down through generations. The brutal murder that took place at the Aalummoottil family in 1921 served as the inspiration for the story written by Madhumuttam
