ഇടതൂർന്നു നിൽക്കുന്ന രണ്ട് കൂറ്റൻ മാവുകൾക്കിടയിൽ പഴയ തലയെടുപ്പോടെ നിൽക്കുന്ന തറവാട് ആയിരുന്നു ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ മേട. തറവാടിന്‍റെ ഇരുവശങ്ങളിലായി കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ തനതായ വാസ്തുവിദ്യ വിളിച്ചോതുന്ന എട്ടുകെട്ടും ധാന്യപ്പുരയും. കൊച്ചു കുഞ്ഞു ചാന്നാർ മൂന്നാമൻ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ച ഈ മാളിക, ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാടിന്‍റെ മുഖച്ഛായ മാത്രമായിരുന്നില്ല; മറിച്ചു ഒരു യുഗത്തിൻ്റെ പ്രതീകമായിരുന്നു. അനേക ഓർമ്മകളുടെ കലവറയായി കാലത്തിൻ്റെ നിശ്ശബ്ദ സാക്ഷിയായിരുന്ന ഈ കെട്ടിടം ക്രമേണ നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. നൂറ്റിയിരുപത് കൊല്ലത്തെ അധ്യായത്തിനു ഇതോടെ തിരശ്ശില വീണു.
Nestled with dignity between two mango trees, the Alummoottil Meda was once a proud ancestral home. On either side of the house stood the traditional Kerala architectural marvels — the ettukettu and the granary. Built by Kochu Kunju Channar ( the Third), this mansion was not just the face of the Alummoottil family; it was a symbol of an era. Serving as a treasure trove of countless memories and a silent witness to the passage of time, this structure gradually fell into disrepair. With its demolition, a 120-year-old chapter has come to an end.
