ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ ചാന്നാൻമാർ അവരുടെ കളരിപ്പയറ്റിലെ വിദഗ്ധത വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കാൻ പല മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളും സ്വീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു . അതിൽ പ്രധാന മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് തമിഴ് കലാരൂപങ്ങളിലെ വിദഗ്ധരായ അദ്ധ്യാപകരെ ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ട് വന്നു താമസിപ്പിച്ചു പഠിക്കുക എന്നത്. സിലമ്പം, കുത്ത് വരിസൈ, വർമ്മ കല, അടിമുറൈ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഉള്ള കലകൾ ആയിരുന്നു ചാന്നാൻമാർ കൂടുതലും അഭ്യസിച്ചിരുന്നത്. തിരിച്ചു ആലുംമൂട്ടിൽ തറവാട്ടുകാരിൽ നിന്നും കളരിയിലെ പാഠങ്ങൾ അവരും അഭ്യസിച്ചിരുന്നു.
The Alummoottil Channars adopted various methods to enhance their expertise in Kalaripayattu. One of the primary methods was to invite teachers who were experts in Tamil art forms to stay and teach at the Alummoottil Tharavad. The Channars mainly practiced arts like Silambam, Kuthu Varisai, Varma Kalai, and Adimurai. In return, the Tamil experts also learned lessons in Kalaripayattu from the members of the Alummoottil Tharavad.
